Day 64: The Desert

We have only been in the desert about half a day and already we have seen roadrunners, humming birds, a rattlesnake, an unidentified snake, rabbits, hares, squirrels and a tiny white fluffy rodent.  Also lots of Joshua trees. I had expected it to be impossibly hot here in the middle of the day, but that's not the case.  It's warm in the sun and cool in the shade, and there's a strong breeze blowing all the time. The sun is bright enough that I need sunglasses by 9.00 am however.  It's blissfully dry and silent.

We arrived in our new temporary home quite late and had to just dump our bags and rush out to find a food store so we were quite exhausted. For now, all I'll say is that it's very nice here.  I'm looking forward to getting to know the place.
